(3)  Harry Rose & Edith Charrison

Harry Rose trained as a gardener at Pennyhill Park, Bagshot  (a private house - now a four star hotel) but became a builder after the 2nd World War.  He married Edith Charrison still living today, who worked in service at Pennyhill Park. They had one son and lived for many years in Frimley Green, Surrey.


(4)   George Rose & Harriet Boyce

George Rose was of vicarage Lane Bagshot, born at Bagshot 23 Aug 1870, died 11 Aug 1935 aged 64, buried at Bagshot Old Cemetery = Harriet born 1872, died 12 Aug? 1949 aged 77 daughter of Robert Boyce proprietor of the Duke of Wellington Inn, Colledge Ride, Bagshot born in Surrey 1831, died 1 April 1899 aged 71, buried at Bagshot) by his wife Penelope (otherwise Penny Clark born at Bagshot 1 April 1837, died 17 April 1910, buried at Bagshot 21 April aged 72, daughter of John Clark of his wife Sarah Rance/Bance ? and granddaughter (referring to Harriett Boyce) of James Boyce of Colledge Ride, Bagshot (1851), born at Bagshot 1786, lived at the Jolly farmer of Golden Farmer 1841, by his wife Mary...born in Surrey 1796.

George and Harriett had the following 13 children.

Louisa Harriett 12 May 1895, Bagshot   Married George McFADDEN of London and had no children.
Anne 1897  19?? aged 94 Married George SPARROW of Camberley. Had several children.
Florence Penelope 1898   Married Reginald James FORD of 6 Obelisk Street, Camberley who was  for 30 years in the Post Office service. He was awarded the GPO long service medal, educated at Princess Street school & played football for Camberley & Bagshot.  Served in the Home Guard in WW2 and died at Camberley 29 February 1952.  Had 2 sons & 1 daughter - Leon, John & Eileen who married & has a daughter Penelope.
John 1900 Bpt 17 June 1900   Married Helen Elizabeth CHAMBERLAIN, daughter of James CHAMBERLAIN of Windlesham & formerly of Wells, Somerset.  Had a son Kenneth John baptised Bagshot Church 14 Dec 1925 who died 21 March 1996.
Joseph Stanley 1901, St Anne's church, Bagshot, Surrey   Of Weybridge, Unmarried. 
Ernest 1902   Of Weybridge.  Married Mary WAGHORN of London.
Frank William 1904   Of the Cottage, Pennyhill Park, Bagshot.  Married his cousin Edith LUCY baptised Bagshot 11 Aug 1895 & daughter of Henry and Elizabeth SUMNER.  They had no children.
Alfred 1906   Of Didcot.  Married Amy Brett and has a daughter Patricia.
Percy 12 April 1908 1 April 1942 Was killed after being accidentally run over by a tank during WW2.  Married Violet ? and has a daughter Doreen who married Richard Boxall and they have several children.
Jessie 8 August 1909, St Anne's Church, Bagshot, surrey   Married James WEEKLY of Woking and has a son called Stanley.
Harry 1911 1988 Married Edith Charison.  See Item 3.
Robert 26 January 1913 died in action

In memory of Lance Corporal 6084887 Robert Rose 2/5 Bn, The Queens Royal Regt (West Surrey).

Son of George & Harriett Rose of Bagshot, Surrey, husband of BA. Rose of Laghey, Co. Donegal, Irish Republic.  Remembered with honour DUNKIRK MEMORIAL, Nord France (grave ref: Column 36)

Robert & B.A. Rose were apparently married one night before he was killed.

Herbert 1916  1949? Married Julie DAVID of Weymouth and lived in Weymouth.  They were both psychiatric nurses.

 


(5a)  Henry Rose & Ellen Sumner (1st marriage)

Henry was a farmer and married twice.  Ellen whom he married first came from Heckfield, Hampshire.  They had the following three children. Henry married secondly to Martha Gibbons - see 5b.

Emma 13 January 1840, Bagshot   Married Henry TAYLOR  13 January 1840, Windlesham Parish church.
George (Bob) 1844, Bagshot   Married Elizabeth Rich BROWN at Windlesham Parish church, 18 May 1873,daughter of George Brown, coachbuilder of Reading, Berkshire.

Ellen Elizabeth 1850, Bagshot   Married Frederick TICE of Send, Surrey at Windlesham Parish Church by Rev J. Tyler, 27 July 1878.  Frederick was a carpenter born before 1859 and was son of William Tice.
